Choices of Fate

"There is no fate that plans men's lives. Whatever comes to us, good or bad, is usually the result of our own action or lack of action."
Herbert N. Casson

I've seen persons argue against fate by saying it's a future you have no control over and if so it's pointless to do anything. Fate doesn't determine your life, you do. Whether your fate(predetermined or not) is good or bad is up to you. At least for the most part.

"How a person masters his fate is more important than what his fate is."
Karl Wilhelm Von Humboldt

Admittedly there are events which happen to us that we may not like but we have no control over. Unless this is one's own death then what needs to be done is that we need to look at this event and try to see what good came of it, not what you did to deserve it. There always is something good, though sometimes minuscule. Obviously, this is not always easy but if we can master this concept, we can move one step closer to mastering ourself and our fate.

"Seek not to know what must not be revealed, for joy only flows where fate is most concealed. A busy person would find their sorrows much more; if future fortunes were known before!"
John Dryden

I don't think we should assume we can truly know our fate. Even if we somehow could determine what lies next in our path, I don't think it could be anything but a burden.

What I'd like to do now with my life is just live it, and live it doing good. Trying to see the good in everything and to keep moving forward and stop trying so hard to figure out what's next in life. Trying to find my own "new deep"...
